Prepare for Winter in the Summer By Osi Sam

Text:- Ecclesiastes 3:1“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:” NIV

According to where we read, theres a time for everything, time to cry, pains, plant, reap, winter and summer is one of the seasons in the year

Definition Of Winter And Summer?

1) Winter is one of the four seasons and the coldest time of the year. The days are shorter and the nights are longer.

Mark the 2 words…coldest time of the year and the nights are longer, meaning it’s a difficult seasons of life,According to the scripture in Psalm 30:5 c part says weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning….meaning dark times are painful moments where u will cry for help but none to help you

The “winters” of life can be brutal…health challenges, difficult relationships, grief, depression, burnout, financial upheavals, “church,” etc. Christians are not exempt from “winter.”Even This Lockdown is a winter experience

While Summer is the hottest of the four temperate seasons
Summer is road trip time. Hundreds of thousands of families and friends take advantage of sunny, warm weather and hit the road, heading for beaches and lakes,… national parks and reserves. “Utilizing the summer as time away, listening to music, watching the scenery go by, we reenergize. Road trips are about reconnecting with family, friends and ourselves. People’s fondest memories about childhood are usually linked to summers, vacation and family road trips,

Preparing for the winter in the summer is liken to the story in Gen 41 pharaoh saw a dream about the future of his people and he needed an interpreter of that dream, a man who prepared for the winter in the summer was sort for,, from coat of many colors to betrayer

From betrayer to the pit, from the pit to slavery, from slavery to accusations, from accusations to prison, upon all this dark, cold experience (pls 30:5 c) he was conscious of the dream he have in the summer season

And Joseph gave pharaoh the interpretation of the dream,, 7 years of Abundance (summer)and 7 years of Famine (winter)…

And he gave a solution to the equation ,……for the famine season (winter, cold, dark moments of life) to be enjoyable we must save in the abundance season( summer)

With the above clarification, winter simple means the dark, cold and difficult seasons of life, and summer means the Abundance seasons of life
But many of us has misused our abundance seasons and that make us suffer more in the famine seasons of life
Especially we the youth,, we lavish our time, money, ideas, into things that doesn’t matter, and we suffer it in the future

Now how do we prevent this?

Lets read,Proverb 6:6Go to the ant, thou sluggard;consider her ways and be wise 7,which having no guide, overseer,or ruler, 8provideth her meat in the summer and gathereth her food in the harvest

Proverbs 30:24 there are 4 things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise 25, the ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer

What can an ant teach me?” I hear you ask.

You’d be surprised.
Generally, the easiest way to live life is to learn from others’ past failures and accomplishments. It is, however, more challenging to take advice from someone who has not yet benefited from their own solutions, like a homeless man giving a talk on ‘how to be a billionaire’. Ants, on the other hand, fall into the successful category, and can teach us how they suceed time and time again.

I dont want to use anybody as an example
The ants taught me a lesson of my life
My mindset got change the day I got this revelation

Prepare for Winter in the Summer…

In general, we don’t see ants in the winter. That is because they have prepared their meals and stored them up for the winter, in the summer. Most prepare their nests under ground, in trees or in acorns to get ready for the cold winter months. They are not bothered by the snow and the subfreezing temperatures – they have made preparation for the winter…
The “winters” of life can be brutal…health challenges, difficult relationships, grief, depression, burnout, financial upheavals, “church,” etc. Christians are not exempt from “winter.” However, if we prepare for the winter by strengthening our spirits through the aforementioned disciplines, during the proverbial summers, we, like the ant will have what is necessary to sustain us until winter passes.

The ant is an industrious creature. Small in size, but wise in its ability to optimise its time, skills and resources. Here are some important characteristics of the ants.

[1. Ants are driven by purpose
By purpose I mean having a clear long term objective or goal which shapes everything you do. For example, one ant’s sole job description is to find food for the colony. This is his purpose, and all that he inputs this time and energy into, and so it compounds his chances of success.

Unless you are paid to respond to Facebook messages and Twitter updates within the hour, then more important activities should precede your level of engagement with social media. Unless of course, part of your goals incorporate social media. Otherwise minimise your engagement with activities that draw you away from your main focus.

[2. Ants work as a team
Ants are team workers and work together in order to achieve something great. Likewise, in order for you to achieve something substantial in life, you must align yourself with others who can help propel you to another level.

Role models are the more experienced people we wish to emulate. Renowned motivational speaker Brian Tracy emphasizes the need for us to see what other successful people in your industry or field have achieved and then to do the same

[3. Ants have a time to rest and a time to work
Ants have to work with the natural seasons. So in summer they gather their food and in winter they hybernate to conserve energy because of the lack of food. You need to know when to stop.

Burnout is when you have come to the end of yourself and suddenly give up and withdraw from all kinds of work. You’ve simply had enough. In order for this not to happen you need to schedule in periods of rest, especially after the completion of a major project.

[ 4. Ants think big
Now ants can seem like one of the most insignificance insects on the planet because of their size. But the colonies they build and the contribution to their society is extremely significant and great.

What big dreams do you have for your future? Pursue those dreams. No matter how small you think you are, you should always pursue something bigger than yourself….

[5. Ants prepare ahead of time
Ants prepare in their food in Summer because they know that there will be a time when there will be no food to find in winter time. So they are constantly preparing for a season which is yet to come upon them. It has a stark contrast with human behaviour. When you should be studying you’re watching TV and when you should be working you’re on Facebook communicating with friends. Your priorities can sometimes be driven by what you feel like doing and not by what the most important thing to do is.

The only way you can maximise any given moment is by preparing for it. If you think ahead to that meeting, conference or event and work backwards, you will then be able to prepare adequately……

[6. Ants carry workloads they can handle
Although they are small, ants can handle up to one hundred times their weight. They know their limitations. All to often we say ‘yes’ to things that we can’t do and take on responsibilities that we struggle to fulfil. All we need to do is know our boundaries and never venture beyond that point.

[7. Ants serve one another
Living for just yourself is a lonely existence. Serving people goes that one step further and asks ‘what can I do for you?’ You start to live beyond yourself and purposefully contribute positively to others.

When few ants in a colony are infected by a fungal disease, they spread the disease throughout the colony, by licking it off one another, with each ant receiving as much of the disease that their individual immune system can fight off effectively…..

Now Listern, If each grain of sand were to say:
One grain does not make a mountain,
There would be no land.

If each drop of water were to say:
One drop does not make an ocean,
There would be no sea.

If each note of music were to say:
Each note does not make a symphony,
There would be no melody.

If each word were to say:
One word does not make a library,
There would be no book.

If each brick were to say:
One brick does not make a wall,
There would be no house.

If each seed were to say:
One seed does not make a field,
There would be no harvest.

If each of us were to say:
One person does not make the difference,
There would never be love and peace on earth.

You and I do make the difference,
Begin today and make the difference.
