BIBLE READING: MORNING: EZEKIEL 24,25,26. EVENING: JAMES 3

TOPIC: ARE YOU A BUILDER?

TEXT: “And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 1:3-4

The entire book of Nehemiah is concerned with the rebuilding of the wall of Jericho that was neglected over time. Nehemiah wept, prayed and fasted for days when the wall of Jerusalem was destroyed. His mind was not beclouded by the luxuries that he was enjoying in the King’s palace. He was a builder with burden, who acknowledged his need for divine intervention and made a move to meet that need.
Nehemiah shows great courage in talking to the king in rebuilding works. The king granted him a favour and he began to prepare for his building plans. The task was not what he could do alone. He inspired people to join him on his mission. They faced a lot of opposition from powerful people but succeeded because of the reasons we shall carefully look at tomorrow.
Nehemiah’s passion for the work of God is one that is emulatable. Like Nehemiah every one must identify the walls of his divine assignment that must be rebuilt. As a Christian, you must be a builder not a destroyer.

PRAYER:
My Father, My Father, as I begin to pray, help me to be a builder in your kingdom and not a destroyer…
